Hi all, had my check up with the rheumatologist today.I told her about the recent flare which mainly manifested in my hands, wrists and neck and popped in to other parts of my body to keep them company as well!! Ive just started taking leflunomide on Friday 13th, and so far so good, no side effects at all. Im taking 10mg with a view to increasing to 20 in a couple of weeks. She said that if I couldnt tolerate 20 mg then to try 10 again and then 20 again and if I really cant tolerate the higher dose then to stick at 10mg. Im pinning a lot of hopes on this dmard working. I think I have finally now come to terms with arthur, I am never going to be the blue arsed fly woman that I used to be! However, there are worse things that can happen, so life has to be adapted.

Felt really positive after the visit and she also assured me that if DLA did approach her (which they didnt with my initial claim, no surprise there then eh?!) she would totally back it up. So everything crossed, hope you are all doing ok, this weather is totally pants, where is our heatwave????!!!!!

take care all

lots of love
Heatherxxx

Hi Heather,

That sounds like a really positive appointment. Good luck with the leflunomide - I hope it works for you.

Take care,

Hi Heather, it is good to hear that you are feeling more positive and accepting of this darned condition! In truth there is nothing else for it. Just have to find the best drugs to treat it and get on with it. Good news about your supportive consultant. What a difference that makes to your state of mind.

Take care,

Eleanor x
